La NANDINA è un arbusto di medie dimensioni che recentemente ha preso ampiamento posto in tanti giardini  pubblici e privati. E' una bella pianta , soprattutto molto resistente a quasi tutti i fenomeni atmosferici e malattie e si adatta bene a zone urbane  ed a quelle  industriali dove l'inquinamento fa da padrone .

Appartiene alla Famiglia delle Berberidaceae  e fu scoperta nell'Asia dell'Est (area Himalaya - Giappone) per la prima volta e classificata nel 1781.

Caratteristiche sono le foglie , strette e lanceolate come quelle del Bamboo tanto è vero che viene anche  chiamato "bamboo sacro o celeste".ma con il vero bamboo non ha nulla da spartire. 

 Il nome "Nandina" viene in realtà dal termine giapponese "NANDIN" che identifica questa specie di piante .  

Il fogliame verde in primavera ed estate , in autunno non perde foglie e cambia colore diventando da verde ad arancio intenso e si arricchisce di grappoli di piccole bacche rosso-lacca . E' una pianta che non richiede particolari cure, sta bene al sole ma può tranquillamente stare nella semiombra .In inverno non ha bisogno di acqua mentre in estate deve essere innaffiata  pur tuttavia sostenendo periodi anche di siccità.

The NANDINA  is a medium-sized shrub that has recently gained place in many public and private gardens. It is a beautiful plant specially because it can resist to almost all weather and diseases and can rise both in the urban areas and in the industriale areas, where pollution is strongly present.

It belongs to the family of the Berberidaceae and wa discovered in Eastern Asia (Himalaya-Japan area ) and classified in 1781.

Somehow aprticular the shape of its leaves, narrow , long and lanceolate similar to those of the Bamboo . That's why it is commonly also called "Sacred or Heavenly Bamboo" . But definetely it hasn't got anything to do with the real Bamboo.

The name "NANDINA" comes from the Japanese "NANDIN" which identifies this plant species .

Nandina usually shows  a large green foliage  in Spring and Summer while in Automn  leaves turned into a warm red -orange colour  and is enhanced by a number of clusters of small red-laquer berries  which are good for birds but TOXIC for human beings . It doesn'need much water in Winter time while in Summer it's necessary to water it , even though it can stand quite  long periodos of drought.

La NANDINA est un arbuste de taille moyenne qui a récemment gagné une palce dans de nombreux jardins privés et publiques . C'est une belle plante , très rèsistante à presque tous les conditions météo et à toutes les maladies  et , en plus, elle peut vivre tranquillement soit dans les zone surbaines que celles industrielles où la pollution touche niveaux très hauts.

Cet arbuste appartient à la Famille des Barbaridaceae , il vient de l'Asie de l'est (région entre Himalaya et Japon ) et  a été découvert et classifié en 1781.

Ces feuilles sont particulières puisque elles rappellent celles du Bamboo , pour la forme longue, étroite et lancéolée .C'est pour cette raison que souvent on l'appelle "Bambou sacré ou Céleste" , mais  , à parte cela, la Nandina n'a rien à partager avec le Bambou! .

Le nom "NANDINA" vient du japonais "NANDIN" qui identifie cette espèce végétale.Cet arbuste montre normalement  en Ete et au Printemps un feuillage vert  mais en Automn le feuillage change de couleur et se transforme en rouge-orange et vient renforcèes par un nombre de grappes de patites baies rouge-laque , très bien pour les oiseaux mais bien TOXIQUE pour les etres humains!

La Nandina aime le soleil mais elee peut aussi vivre dans la mi-ombre  . En Eté , meme si elle peut survivre pour longtemps à la secheresse , il faudrait l'arroser bien et regulièrement tandis qu'en Hiver elle n'a pas beacoup besoin d'eau .
